Sean was born and raised in Sacramento, California. He attended Jesuit High School and received a degree in Business from St. Mary's College of California. His professional experience began with a college internship under a stock analyst in San Francisco. After college, he joined a Fortune 100 Company and relocated to the east coast to work at their corporate headquarters. After 15 years of working in corporate America, Sean worked at Raymond James, as an Independent Investment Advisor and business owner. In 2023, Sean formed O'Brien Wealth Management. This has allowed Sean to run his business with the focus on what's best for the client while cutting out the standard large firm fees.

Sean has been involved in his community since relocating back home in 2007. He currently serves on the boards of the Salvation Army and the Sutter Club. Sean lives within walking distance of his office with his wife and better half, Jeni, a pharmacist at Kaiser. Together, they have two boys, Sawyer and Donovan, and enjoy being part of the Sacred Heart Parish School community.
